With the decline of print publications it's interesting to see that the layout and grid systems still apply in their transition into web publication.
These are the websites of two popular teen magazines that use the grid system. I think Teen Vogue does a better job organizing their content using the grid by listing the main and most important features down the middle and advertisements on one side.
I don't think Seventeen's website uses the grid system very well. They use two wide and two skinny columns because the advertisements on different boxes complicates and takes up too much space. It really draws attention away from the main content.
Blogs also use the grid system which I think is important since there can be so many words in a blog which can make things hard to find and read. The grid system helps separate things into their own category so that a reader isn't overwhelmed by the presence of so many words. I dislike blogs that don't use the grid system well (most of them do though.)
Perez Hilton is a celebrity gossip blog that uses the grid system well. Although he uses photos more than words, there are grids to help separate his entries from his advertisements and other information.
